Physical training

For those not involved in large scale expedition projects it is difficult to imagine what it takes to get ready for an expedition. There are many levels to manage. Easiest to manage yet essential parts of preparation include physical training, gear selection, and logistics.

But how do you get ready for it mentally? The best preparation for a North Pole expedition is gradually building up the experience of traveling under the conditions. Experienced as the expedition members all are, it is still necessary for them to (re-)encounter the Arctic Ocean in order to make final and correct decisions on next year's expedition. That one really doesn't allow mistakes, misjudgments, or lack of focus. The test expedition is an essential stepping stone towards next year's expedition.

During the course of the test expedition, updates will be made available on this website. Extensive evaluations and action plans will be made in the weeks after the test expedition. The expedition will share the lessons learned and take you along the process of preparation. And let's hope you get a little bit more insight in what it takes to make this kind of project a success.
